My Movie review of Wonder

Ever since I was little, my favorite movie has been the "Karate Kid". Since then, I have watched a lot more movies and I have a new set of movies I really like. In the last few months, I have watched the movie "Wonder" twice, once with my school and the other time with my family. "Wonder" is about August (Auggie) Pullman, a small, funny boy who has a facial difference. He has been homeschooled his whole life and has just entered fifth grade in middle school.

While adjusting going from homeschooled to school, he encounters all kinds of people and bullying from some of them who are all different ages. After all he has gone through, he is still strong and hasn't given up hope, he is creative and a very brilliant minded boy. While Auggie faces school, the movie goes to show the perspective of the people that "revolve" around Auggie. For an example, his sister Via, in the movie it shows how Via is feeling about her family and Auggie. It also shows her relationship with Miranda, (her best friend), and what happened to them. There are some other perspectives that are shown in the movie too: Miranda, Jack will, Summer and a few others.

When I was watching the movie, I learned to not give up hope in tough times and to treat other people nicely. To respect them, even though they might or might not be different.

I really liked the movie because it shows the audience how the people who can relate to Auggie's situation, feel when they get bullied, and how the people around Auggie and Auggie himself gets affected by it. Also another reason I liked this movie was that how Auggie managed to focus on the positive things from a negative situation. Like when Auggie was walking to the school and the whole school parted for him to walk through and they stared at him, he was ignored that and started thinking about how he would stare at Chewbacca if he came to school and he went up to him, (in his imagination), and apologized if his staring made him uncomfortable. Then they high-fived and went inside the school. I think the moral of this story is: Don't judge a book by its cover!

Gifts To Get or Do

Most of the gifts that I want, I probably won't get until I am a little bit older or never. So I am going to write 5 things I really want to get or do, for a holiday or just because. Although, I might still not get them for a holiday or just because. So here are the 5 things I might or might not get for a holiday or just because.

  1. First of all, I really want to go skydiving! Ever since I was little, my biggest wish is to skydive. I can always picture myself falling from the sky and wondering if earth looks the same from the pictures of Earth when you search up Earth and look at the pictures or if it looks a bit different from it.
  2. Secondly, this wish is a little bit like the first wish, but a bit different. I wish a trip to outer space and to see the whole universe. I would see all the planets, meteoroids, comets, asteroids, and I might also be able to see the sun, if my eyes don't get blinded to soon by it! If this happened, it would be a life changing experience for me!
  3. Third, I would want to get a machine that would automatically give me a book that would be perfect for me to read at that time. Like if I wanted to read a thriller, (or any other genre), book, the machine would find me a thriller book that fits in with what kind if thriller I want to read at that time. It would be really nice if that existed, but unfortunately it doesn't.
  4. Fourth, I would like to eliminate all the homework from all the schools I go and going to. Like homework and assignments, but not the education ( we need that!). I would go to school and learn but no assignments , homework or work to do outside of school of any kind. But this does not count for the activities I do at school or studying for tests and quizzes.
  5. Finally, I would like to get a gear set. I like to build things, like mechanisms, its exciting for me to build anything I want! I would try to build my own mechanism, but I think everything is pretty much already discovered, (I could be wrong though?!). It would be awesome if I had it though!

Have Perseverance

When you face an obstacle in life its important to have perseverance. It is important because it is your goal and you need to reach it; Don't give up!

"Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever."
Lance Armstrong
If you quit you will never get past the obstacle, but once you overcome it you will be proud of yourself and will feel good about not giving up. But if you give up, you will spend your life regretting that you could have tried harder and could have overcome the obstacle and keep on living happily. Do not give up because you can get past it, and it will get better!
