My Graduation Speech

Hello my dear fellow graduates, today we are here, after 9 years of education. From having new opportunities to learning life lessons to building new relationships. We have all had our ups and downs, whether in the beginning of the school year or when cramming information before the finals. It has been a stressful year but also one where we won’t ever forget, filled with fun and excitement. Like in Camp Maclean when Shane brought a ghillie suit and wore it for capture the flag. I remember in 4th grade when we had Mac bucks, I saved mostly all of mine for the auction at the end and sometimes I used to buy some candy from the box in the closet after I shot a basket through the basketball hoop. I can’t believe that we are 8th graders about to graduate. It seems like only yesterday I was coming to Golf for the first time. Time passed so fast through these years. High school might feel like forever but when we reach senior year it will also feel as if the years passed way to fast. We will create new memories and new people with all kinds of personalities. It also is an opportunity to decide which path we want to take for our future ahead and prepare for it. I hope we all choose the right paths. Also to have fun in High school and to enjoy it while it lasts but to also study and learn for the future. I saw a quote which inspires me to go my own way, to believe in myself and to not give up. This is the quote: "I will not follow where the path may lead, but I will go where there is no path, and I will leave a trail." by Muriel Strode. I hope that this quote also motivates some of you guys to try new things and to take chances in doing something different. Happy Graduation everyone!!!!

Endings and Beginnings

As graduation nears and summer vacation is about to begin, what are your goals that you would like to accomplish by the end of school? Do you wish to have all As on your report card? My goals for the end of the school year are to get good grades and to pass all of my final exams. I am going to try to get in the As before my exams, incase I don't do too well in it and it drops my grades, it won't go too far. It might go in the Bs after my exam if it doesn't go too well. Hopefully I do good though! For summer my goals are to prepare to begin high school and to manage my time for my homework during high school. Here is a quote about new beginnings:
Image result for quotes about beginnings I think this quote relates to most situations of new beginnings, because you are leaving something behind to start fresh. Most of those times you are leaving behind painful things that you want to forget and move on. This relates to my situation because I am leaving middle school and going to high school. It will be hard to transfer between the schools, but it will be fine. I am going to miss middle school, but it is a opportunity for me to start fresh and make more friends.

Alter Dvoretsky-Holocaust

Who is Alter Dvoretsky? Is he a Nazi? A Nazi leader? No, he is a strong powerful Jewish resistance leader, an important person to the ghetto residents of the Zdzięcioł (Zhetel) Ghetto during the Holocaust. As you guys all know what the Holocaust was, a genocide by the Germans (Nazis and Hitler) aimed mostly for Jews and others such as Gypsies, the elders, disabled, sick, homosexuals and others. But what was Alter's part in the Holocaust? Well, he was the head behind the Jewish resistance in the Zhetel ghetto. He organized a group which helped plan and save the ghetto residents. He was part of a council called the Judenrat council and was the head (chairman) of the council. His experiences from before the Holocaust began, (he was a lawyer and was known in public events), helped him decide, plan and lead the ghetto residents against the Nazis. He was successful in helping the residents escape the ghetto, along with himself and the Judenrat. In one incident, Alter was arrested with the Rabbi, Jankel Kaplen and some others. After they got arrested, the local Jews who supported Alter and the Rabbi, bribed the Germans to release them both. After they got released, the Germans took the others who were arrested away for forced labor. But then it was founded out that the Germans actually took them to the forest near the military barracks and killed them. When the local Jews bribed the Germans to release Alter and the Rabbi, it shows that the local Jews were supportive of Alter and wanted him alive to probably lead them in the future through the dark times ahead. That proves that he is important to them. He has authority since he is the head of the Judenrat council and makes him "important" to the Germans who are in charge of the ghetto too. He is "important" to them, because his job as the chairman of the Judenrat gives him the responsibility to make sure that the ghetto residents are following the Germans' rules. If the ghetto residents don't follow their rules, the boss of the Nazis that are in charge of the Zhetel ghetto, will get angry at them and might punish them so the Nazis in charge rely on Alter to enforce their rules from the inside. Although Alter did what was told and followed through his responsibility, he also multitasked by "enforcing" their rules while he encouraged the Jews and others to resist and fight against the Germans. He built a resistance from the inside while tricking the Germans in charge of the ghetto into believing that he was following their orders and his responsibility. Below is a picture of Alter Dvoretsky:

A Dream Meal

What is your dream meal? Is it a warm Fettuccini Alfredo with a side of fries and a Pepsi? Or maybe a cheesy slice of hot pizza with tons of toppings? I have a lot of different kinds of dream meals, which depend on what I want to eat at that time. I might want to eat Italian, Mexican, Chinese or try something new. I'm more of a dessert person than a main dish person. I like all kinds of desserts, some examples are: tiramisu, gelato, ice cream, flan, cake and basically anything sweet including dark chocolate. Although I am a dessert person, my perfect meal for right now would be: Baked Ziti/Five Cheese Ziti, a side of cheese fries and a drink of raspberry lemonade. My dessert after my meal would be chocolate gelato from Mariano's 😁. My favorite type of food is pasta. I like any kind of pasta, whether it be garden pasta to spaghetti. One of my favorite pastas that I've eaten is the Baked Ziti from Olive Garden. The first time that I tried it, it was really good. It was cheesy and everything was really good. Now I order it every time we go there and I enjoy it all the time. It's always cheesy, (I also like cheesy things like cheese curds too), but what is your favorite food? What is your dream meal?

Love

“We must live, and when this is all over, we must work to make the world a better place. And if we die, we will die knowing that it was not our fault, that we did our best, and we can go to our deaths in dignity… I want you both to live…And to remember...You must choose love. Always choose love.”- from Daniel’s Story by Carol Matas

In a book that I just finished, is an example of one of the character choosing love. The book is called The Colossus Rises. Its about a boy, (Jack), who has a gene that relates him to Atlantis and he could die really soon. Luckily for him, he meets someone who could help him, under some weird circumstances and meets some people around his age who have the same gene as him. Jack and his friends then go on some scary adventures to find all of the lost loculi, before their time runs out.

During one of their adventures, Jack and his friends lost Marco, (one of the friends). They reported back to Professor Bhegad, the person who is helping them, and he was going to send a search team to find Marco. Jack and his friends then told Professor Bhegad that they should go and look for Marco, since they were family. I think this shows that Jack and the others chose to look for him instead of the search team, because they love him like a family. They choose love instead of letting strangers find him and they also felt that they owed him, since they were family and he got lost by protecting them from a beast. I also think that showed Marco picking love in order for him to protect them from the beast.

This is also a really good book! I enjoyed reading it and it also is an easy read and fast paced book. I hope everyone enjoys this book!

Dear Diary....

February 25, 2018

Dear Diary,

I just watched the documentary called "I'm Still Here". It is on the Holocaust and some people who survived it and some people that didn't. It went through their lives before and during the Holocaust.

While I watched the documentary, I thought about how hard surviving was back then and the panic and fear that kept the Jews from fighting back. There was a lot of tension during the Holocaust and I hope we can all learn something from the Holocaust, to avoid making the same mistakes again.

Goodnight!
